Works well on a Mac
By M. Whitman
I purchased this adapter to use with my Garmin Geko 201 handheld GPS receiver and a Garmin-compatible serial cable and it works well. I did have to download the PL2303 driver [...]because the included drivers on the CD were older and I was running Mac OS X 10.5.2. After installing the new driver and rebooting, I tested it with assorted programs and was capable to with great success transfer info in both directions. The driver disc is a 3" CD and will not load into a slot-loading CDR - which is another reason you may need to download drivers online.

USB to Serial cable for Garmin GPS III plus
By Hal Hughes
Just purchased the USB to serial cable for my older Garmin GPS III+ (my new computer doesn't have a serial port). The driver software loaded easily. I initally got a hardware install error when the device was plugged in. I opened the "Device Manager" and uninstalled the device then the ran "New Hardware Wizard" which in the right way installed the GPS device. The selective information transfer went with no problems or difficulties with MapSource. Probably ought to have just tried to merely "plug-and-play" rather than install the device driver in hindsight.

Easy to install
By Mathijs
I wanted to connect my old Garmin 12MAP GPS to my PC using a USB cable. This cable was just what I needed. Installation was easy and it works both under Windows XP and Windows Vista.
