5Better than the original
By jimvia76
I left the Mount that came with the GPS in a Rental car. This one works much better than the basi - it is more compact, and it doesn't bounce around. It was hard for me to find a new mount that came with the clip that wraps around the GPS - I had to go onto other websites to affirm that this model did - because you can't always trust a Amazon picture you know....

42 thumbs up

I purchased this item from Semson's for $11 + S/H. It arrived in good condition in a few days. It did not rather fit because on the bottom of the Magellan 3225 receiver there is a little screw and tab. I fixed this is less than a minute with a Dremel tool, cutting out a 1 cm section on the bottom of the cradle to concede it to slip over the screw mount and tab on the receiver bottom. This does not affect function or appearance. Also, the cradle has a little metal strip in the socket for the ball mount. This strip will have to be got rid of with a needle nosed pliers so that the ball may slip into the socket. Once this is done, the ball may be pushed into the socket, creating a secure but flexible mount. No instructions come with the unit. I have read some reviews that said the cradle didn't fit their unit: it did after the simple modifications noted above.

2Not Strong Enough
By nitewulf50
For the basi few weeks I had this it was great and I had no issues. The mount comes in two pieces. The introductory is the portion that mounts to the window with the suction cup. The second is that portion that you snap your Magellan into. Those two pieces connect with a ball and socket joint - this connection degrades over time. Currently, that joint is not tight sufficient anymore to help the weight of my Magellan. My Magellan just flops down after a few minutes. I don't see anyway to adjust the joint. What I ended up doing was usig duct tape to make a double sided mount to keep the piece that mounts to the Magellan stuck to my windshield. Next I might just superglue the joint to the angle I like.
