Magellan Maestro 2008 2009 Update

Before you buy your next GPS system, take a look at the Magellan Maestro 4700 GPS. It's loaded with utile features and priced exceedingly well. Among the most noteworthy features are the 16% larger 4.7" screen, one touch search function, Bluetooth technology, voice command, triple A tourbook guide, nearest gas button, 6 million points of interest, highway lane assist, 4 routing selections and various others.

Most humans were impressed with the ease of installation, it worked from the very commence right out of the box, update downloading by way of USB cables was quick and easy and powering up was quick too.

Also noted was the time it took to finish routing, from starting point to final destination took approximately 45 seconds. Two features humans like very much are the highway lane help feature and predictive traffic feature. There's not one thing worse than being in the defective lane when exiting the freeway and having to make u turns and attempting to pry into that filled lane next to you. Along with that, feeling of annoyance at being hindered or criticized may be obviated by diverting around known traffic tie ups in your route.

The two things I personally like with regards to this unit is the spoken street name guide with the text to speech feature and the lost car feature. You never have to take your eyes off the road with the spoken street guide, which provides for a safe experience for you and your passengers. You are given clear and precise directions at all times. The lost car feature allows you to find your car in parking lots, airports, malls, universities, amusement parks, or stadiums where you now and again forget where you parked. It's a breeze to locate your car with this feature!

Mentioned above were the 4 routing choices. First is the quickest know route, second is the shortest known route, not always the fastest. Third is the most freeway employed route and 4th and final is the least freeway employed route. It's your choice, pick which one is best for you.

1Corrupted my unit! Wish I never purchased it.
By Lisa
I've been a happy Magellan 4040 owner up until this map update software. I followed the installation instructions exactly. It appeared as altho it worked but when I turned the unit on, it displayed a map error. I had to send the unit back for repair. After weeks of waiting for it to be returned I called Magellan client service. Apparently since I didn't use their preferent shipper, they had no record of it (so rude). After assorted phone calls, I tracked it to the wrong address. Turned it on and of course they didn't install the map update like they were supposed to. So now I get to send it back again on my dime so they may install the map update because they will not concede me to return it.
This will be the last map update I will ever buy and most likely the last Magellan product I will buy. I would rank Magellan client service as the worst I have ever experienced. They in truth blamed me for almost losing the unit beacuse I didn't use their suggested shipper. Took 2 phone calls to find an agent more than willing to look up a tracking number. Horrible.

5Worked perfective for my Magellan 3250

Make sure your battery is to a complete degree charged before you do it! Then you will not have any problems. Don't count on the USB power to get it going, charge it basi then do it, because if you stop halfway you GPS will lock up and that will be ugly.

4Not required, but makes the unit more useful...
By Bilbo
Truthfully, I was not exceptionally enthused when it comes to having to update a scarcely year old GPS system (and having to recompense for the priviledge), but if you want your points of interest/road layouts and such to be more recent - detect I didn't say current - it doesn't injure too much if you find the upgrade for a decent price. I may get rid of a lot of of the saved destinations I had to enter because they didn't show up on the old version, but in all likelihood won't bother. There is at least one apparent enhancement: the turn arrow displayed when you are heading to a destination is huge and orange now (as opposed to littler and green?). I would strongly suggest having a wall adaptor plugged in when upgrading your unit, because 1.) it takes a couple of hours to run, 2.) the upgrade will not start out if it detects that the unit is not completely charged, and 3.) any termination of the upgrade routine before completion could render your unit unusable. Have a nice day.
