Terrible experience

I'm only giving this a one star because they will not concede a zero star. Having already purchased a Magellan Triton 500 and having to send the unit back because the GPS ran into unexpected errors and would lock up after 35 days of owning you would think I would steer clear of Magellan. I figured out how to rectify the internal errors thanks to a Triton Forum blog, not that the manufacturer would tell you how to repair it. When the gps works it works great.

So we buy the Magellan explorist GC for our son's birthday. Took out of the box, loaded charged batteries in the unit it only displays the Magellan logo. We down loaded the Vantage Point software and the computer does not recognize the until being hooked up to the pc.

I can't believe being burned twice by shoddy products... I know fool me once shame on you...In therory this looks like it would be a great unit to geocache with but we will never now. We are returning it and are done with buying productions from Magellan. A few friend of ours cache with DeLorme's gps perhaps we will go that route.
