Works as advertised
By B. Smith
I've had bean bag holders before. This one is heavy and very adjustable. It has two little fold out bases on which your device will rest, so that your device will not slip out of the adaptable side rubber-like grips that hold it in place. No need to worry in regards to any harm to your device since the holder is well padded with a rubber-like non-slip surface. I have a motorola Droid and it fit...no problem. I may without apparent effort pick my Droid out of the cradle to answer the phone. Actually, you could use it for a much larger or much littler device. It even holds my little iRiver which is only 2 3/4 x 1 7/8. The bean bag & holder itself is a larger presence on the dash than I would have liked and debated giving it only 4 stars. With the Droid in the holder it measures just in regards to 6 inches wide. A window attachment would be less bulky, but then I have never had any luck keeping a window attachment on a windshield so I am happy with this.

Ok... after alterations...
By Bike_Rider
Purchased this for a Droid X. The phone fits well.. and would without apparent effort adjust to other phones. I have a micro 90 degree usb cable to connect to a car charger and it fits... a straight micro usb connector forces you to rotate the phone up at a drastic angle. Making it un-usable. Using in a Honda Accord with a very flat, textured dash.... was like a puck on an air table. Seems like the bean bags are too full and doesn't grant the pad to form to the dash. Wound up putting a coating of silicon on the base. Now it works. It is reasonably perpendicular to the dash... but not much adjustment after the phone is in place. Almost as if the little leg supporting the clamp mechanism needs to be a little longer so that the phone will clear the bean bags...
Anyway... if you don't mind "fixing" it before you use it... it's ok. Was just expecting it to work out of the box like the Garmin friction mount did. Might likewise try to take a lot of of the beans out so that it has more clearance for the phone as well as forms to the dash better.

SecureHOLD - a suitable buy
By John T Farrell
If you are looking for a dash top holder for your phone.GPS, you need not look any further than this. I've had mine for a month and give it a solid 4 stars. Here are galore masters & cons.
Pros - will securely hold my Moto Driod to the dash by it's weight alone. It does not slide or jiggle off on bumps.
- The rubber coated clamps hold the phone securely.
- It will hold the phone vertical or horizontal.
- You may plug in the car charger cord while using it
- reasonably good range of adjustment for tilt angle and height.
- I keep a Body Glove case skin on my phone always and this does not limit the functionality of the SecureHOLD.
- It must work for most GPS gimmicks and other phones as well
Cons - You need a comparatively flat dashboard area. Mine is flat on top, sloping forward near the edge(Lexus). On my old Nissan Maxima, it is lss secure because the entire dash slopes forward and there is no flat spot.
- When keeping the phone horizontal, the adjustment knob for opening and closing the keeping clamp in difficult to reach on the bottom of the device. If I reverse the phone direction (flip it upside down) then I can't plug in the charger cord. However, once you find a good position there is closely no adjustment necessary to mount or dismount your phone.
- the aid arm that supports the clamp above the base has a click type detent to set it's position. It is secure sufficient to hold the phone in position now but I wonder if there may be wear & tear later which would make it malfunction.
- a lot of uttermost angles or positions make it difficult to attach the support arm to the clamp - this is done by putting a pin on the arm through a slot on the back of the clamp.
Overall I like this holder very much and would commend it. It works very well for my needs and a lot of of the cons listed above are either hypothetical or easy to work around.
